In honor of Summertime, here are a few simple, healthy and refreshing drinks to help you stay hydrated. Choose these instead of soda or sugary drinks on any hot day. Also easy: refill your glass with the liquid to keep enjoying the flavors.
Watermelon + Basil Cooler:
-
1-2 chunks watermelon
-
Few leaves organic basil, torn in half
-
Handful ice
-
Water or club soda
Add the watermelon, basil and a little water to a tall glass. Use a spoon, fork, or other muddling utensil to crush the melon and leaves together in the base of the glass. Add ice and the rest of the water or club soda. Stir and enjoy.
Lemon-Cucumber-Mint Spa Water:
-
Juice of 1/4 lemon
-
Few slices organic cucumber
-
Few leaves organic mint
-
Little ice
-
Water
Add everything into a glass and let sit for a few minutes (it helps the cucumber taste permeate more). Stir, sip and enjoy.
Sparkling Cherry-Berry Fizz:
-
1/4 cup frozen organic dark cherries
-
Small handful fresh organic blueberries, raspberries and/or blackberries
-
Little ice
-
Club soda
Add the fresh berries to an on-the-rocks glass and use a utensil to crush them up a bit, then add the frozen cherries, a little ice and club soda. Stir and voila.
These recipes are for an easy single serving but can easily be scaled up for two, four or a party. No need to worry about measuring too much…you can’t really go wrong. Add a splash of vodka to the watermelon + basil or switch out the club soda for champagne in the fizz for a treat. Enjoy!
